What is a heat pump?
Instead of dirty fossil fuels, heat pumps use the power of free fresh air, along with a small amount of electricity, to heat your home and hot water. This makes them four times more efficient than a gas boiler and cheaper to run. Much cheaper.

£7,500 off your heat pump with the BUS grant
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (or ‘BUS’ for short) gives eligible homes a £7,500 grant to help replace their old gas boiler with a clean energy heat pump. With the grant, you get:

How much does it cost to run a heat pump?
A well-designed heat pump system is 4X more efficient than a gas boiler since it captures 75% of the energy required to heat your home from the free outside air.
The exact cost of running the system depends on the temperature you choose in your home, the amount of hot water you consume, and the price of electricity and the type of electricity tariff you use.
All Aira Heat Pump systems are designed to perform significantly more efficiently than a gas boiler to optimise CO₂ and heating bill savings. If you don’t have any other gas appliances in your home after switching to a heat pump, you'll be waving goodbye to gas bills for good.
Is Aira's heat pump for free?
There is a cost associated with buying a heat pump, you won't get it for free. However, Aira offers affordable prices with the option to spread the costs at equal monthly installments. The costs will depend on various factors such as the size of your property, EPC ratings, and others. The good news is that with the £7,500 boiler upgrade grant the total amount that you need to pay significantly reduces, allowing you to get a heat pump at a discounted rate.
Is it worth getting a heat pump?
There are a number of reasons why an air to water heat pump is a worthwhile investment:
- Heat pumps are four times more efficient than boilers, helping reduce your energy bills.
- They also have an average life span of 18 years (almost double that of a typical gas boiler).
- They are compatible with both underfloor heating and radiators.

At what temperature does a heat pump stop working?
Heat pumps can provide effective heating in temperatures as low as -25 degrees celsius. And because your package includes our Aira Comfort Guarantee at no extra cost, you’re guaranteed 20 degree celsius cosiness on even the coldest day of the year – or we’ll come straight out to fix it.
How long does a heat pump last?
