The challenge

John and Helen live in a modern two-storey home in Ayrshire, surrounded by nature. They wanted to cut their environmental impact. And their old boiler wasn’t helping.

John checked out plenty of heat pump options before Helen saw Aira mentioned in a Guardian article. Once they saw the Aira Heat Pump and found out about our 15-Year Aira Guarantee, the choice was simple.

For our team, the main challenge was ensuring our smart Aira Heat Pump fitted seamlessly into their home’s existing pipework and electrical setup. And, with the home’s beautiful exterior and countryside setting, the outdoor unit had to blend in. Not stick out.

Our solution

One of our Clean Energy Experts visited John and Helen for a free home energy assessment, walking them through how the Aira system works and outlining exactly what their switch would involve. All before providing a price-locked quote.

Once they accepted, we guided John and Helen through the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan process, helping them understand what they were eligible for and how to apply. Through the scheme, the couple secured £7,500 off the cost of their system.

Following a technical survey, our designers created a bespoke system tailored to their home. It included a 6kW Aira Heat Pump, a 250L Aira Indoor Unit, and a 40L buffer tank, all carefully placed to fit their home’s style. Inside and out.

While the buffer tank was originally discussed for the utility room, we’re always mindful of making the most of space in our customers’ homes. During the early planning phase, our team identified an even smarter option: positioning the tank under the stairs. It offered a neater, more space-efficient solution. And was a better fit for how John and Helen use their home.

After installation, we fine-tuned the system to make sure everything was running just right. Keeping John and Helen’s home cosy and their energy bills down.

John & Helen’s verdict

“We came across an article in The Guardian about Aira by chance. And we thought, if a heat pump can keep a Swedish home warm, it can definitely do the same for our home in Scotland.

When the installation team arrived, it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing. They were top notch and really professional.

Another reason we’re so happy with our heat pump is the 15-year guarantee. It’s one of the main things that made us choose Aira in the first place.”
