I already have an Aira Heat Pump. How much can I save if I sign up for Aira Zero?

If you already own an Aira Heat Pump, you can save up to an additional £330 a year on energy bills when you sign up for Aira Zero.

It’s important to note that energy prices and specific tariffs offered by suppliers can fluctuate over time. Additionally, energy bills depend on factors like temperature settings, hot water usage, and overall energy consumption, which are beyond Aira’s control.

Does Aira Zero work with other heat pumps?

Accepted Answer

Aira Zero works with all heat pumps installed by Aira. If you opt for a heat pump that is not an Aira Heat Pump, once you have signed up for Aira Zero all you need to do is manually adjust your heat pump’s settings to off-peak and peak times via your app or heat pump controller.

Do I need a smart meter and what if I don’t have one?

Accepted Answer

You will need a smart meter to benefit from our intelligent tariffs. If you don’t have one, once you sign up for our tariffs, our partner Octopus Energy will install a smart meter for you free of charge as part of the installation process.

It automatically sends meter readings to Octopus, so they can bill you accurately for the electricity you've used. Until the smart meter is installed you will be on an interim tariff.

How does Aira Zero work alongside my heat pump?

When you have successfully signed up for Aira Zero, the new feature will be presented to you via a welcome message in the Aira Home Energy app. Once enabled, your heat pump's intelligent system will automatically work harder during times when energy prices are lower and conserve energy when prices are high.

This doesn’t mean your outdoor unit won’t run at peak times. It may need to heat water or maintain a cosy indoor temperature. But rest assured, your heat pump is designed to strike the perfect balance between cost savings and maintaining your set indoor temperature. So you can sit back, relax and enjoy your energy savings without sacrificing comfort.

Only Aira Heat Pumps offer native integration with Aira Zero. Customers with Vaillant or Daikin heat pumps must manually program their systems to adjust the schedule, lowering the target temperature during expensive periods and raising it during cheaper times.

How are Aira Clean Energy tariffs 100% green?

Accepted Answer

The tariffs we offer in partnership with Octopus Energy are 100% green. This means that the electricity you pay for originates from green sources such as wind, solar and hydropower.

 Octopus achieves this by working out how much power their customers are taking out of the grid annually and ensure an equal amount of green electricity is added into the system in its place over the year. Not only does this make the electricity you pay for carbon free, it helps make the energy system greener for everyone too.

How long does it take to complete my switch to Aira Zero?

The time it takes to switch to an Aira Clean Energy tariff varies depending on factors like whether you have a smart meter and your chosen tariff.

 If you require a smart meter installation, the timeframe depends on your location and engineer availability. Octopus aim to install a new smart meter in under 4 weeks.

 The transition to Aira Zero begins with switching energy supplier. The application usually takes about two working days (as long as the application is initiated before 4pm). If you have a compatible smart meter already installed, it typically takes about 14 days to establish a successful connection to the tariff, enabling Octopus to remotely collect readings. Once the connection is established, you will receive the T&Cs for Aira Zero, which you have 28 days to accept, or your switch will be cancelled.

How often will Aira Zero’s rate be adjusted?

When you sign up for Aira Zero, you'll enjoy peace of mind knowing you can cancel anytime. No strings attached. No contract or termination fees.

 The Aira Zero rates can be adjusted by Octopus when the price cap is reviewed by Ofgem every three months. As a result, we do not guarantee the rates for any period of time. The price cap for the next periods will be announced by Ofgem on: 25 May 2025 (for period 1 July to 30 September 2025).

Question 8

How can I switch to Aira Zero if I'm currently on a fixed-term contract with another energy supplier?

Accepted Answer

Even if you're on a fixed-term contract, you can still join Aira Zero.

Check if your current contract has a fee for leaving early as many suppliers charge if you switch more than 49 days before your contract ends. If there's a fee, switching to Aira Zero could still be worthwhile if the savings outweigh the exit fee.

What is the difference between energy costs and energy bills?

Energy costs includes your electricity bills and the cost of your heat pump hardware and maintenance. Energy bills include electricity bills only.
