Industry-leading SCOP rating of 4.7
There's a product rating called SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance) which looks at a heat pump's performance over a year. A rating over 3.5 is good. And the Aira Heat Pump? An impressive 4.7.
Quiet operation (56-57 dB)
The outdoor unit is designed not to disrupt and typically produces a gentle running sound that fades into the background (56-57 decibels).
Uses natural R290 refrigerant
The Aira Outdoor Unit uses the R290 refrigerant. It's natural, efficient, non-toxic and free of ozone-depleting properties.
Distinctive, beautifully designed and timeless, the Aira Outdoor Unit is styled to fit naturally into its surrounding environment.
While the exterior design is crafted for longevity, it also enhances performance. The angles of the ribs on the front are crafted to maximise the amount of air entering the unit, while the back is engineered to minimise icing issues during winter.

Where should the outdoor unit be placed?
During our free home energy assessment, our Aira Clean Energy Experts will recommend the best location for your outdoor unit. If you have a specific location in mind, we will do our best to make it possible.
Upon installation, your Aira Technician will provide further advice on location, maintenance and usage.
How much noise does the outdoor unit make?
When in operation, the Aira Outdoor Unit emits a gentle running sound, typically between 56 and 57 decibels, depending on the size of your unit. These noise levels are designed not to be disruptive and naturally fade into the background.
During colder weather, the unit may need to work harder to heat your home and hot water, which can lead to increased noise levels at times.
What is the expected lifetime of the Aira Outdoor Unit
Aira Heat Pumps are designed to last longer than boilers. Much longer. And, with the Aira Guarantee, we promise that the Aira Outdoor Unit will continue to provide a cosy indoor temperature for at least the next 15 years. Or we'll come out to fix it.
Can I install my own heat pump?
The installation of a heat pump must be carried out by a trained professional. Our Aira Technicians are MCS-certified and will install your Aira Heat Pump. They will also provide expert advice on heat pump location, maintenance and usage.
Can the Aira Heat Pump be used for heating & cooling?
In some cases, your Aira Heat Pump can also function as a “cool pump”, but it’s not as simple as flipping a switch. To cool your home, the heat pump system may need adjustments, such as installing hydronic fan coils and upgrading the insulation on the water pipes. Sometimes, the modifications can be so complex that we recommend against them.
How is the outdoor unit protected from bad weather?
Our air source heat pumps are sealed units designed to withstand all weather conditions. They have built-in safeguards, like an automated de-icing cycle, to protect against extreme weather.
Will I need to use my heat pump in summer?
Yes. You will still need to use your heat pump for hot water production during the warmer months, but it will use much less energy than in the winter because it will not be heating your home.
