What are the running costs of a heat pump?
Air source heat pumps aren’t just efficient, they’re in a league of their own. Operating at over 400% efficiency, they generate four times the heat for every unit of electricity used.
Compare that to gas boilers, which waste at least 10% of their energy through flue gases, leaving them at just 85%-90% efficiency. Even the best modern condensing boilers can’t get past 99%, making them four times less efficient than a heat pump.
And while electricity costs more than gas, the supercharged efficiency of heat pumps means lower overall running costs.
