Scott’s Aira Heat Pump installation

Property details:

  • Detached home
  • 2-storey, 4-bedroom, 4 baths
  • Modern build

Scott knew his 18-year-old boiler was on borrowed time. So he started looking for a future-proof way to heat his home. One that would last, save him money, and cut down on emissions.

The installation at a glance

Location: Dumbarton, Glasgow

What we installed:

  • Aira Heat Pump (6kW)
  • Aira Indoor Unit Compact
  • Water cylinder (250L)
  • Buffer tank (40L)
  • Aira Thermostat
  • 5 new radiators

Government grant available: Home Energy Scotland Grant & Loan

The challenge

Scott lives in a modern two-storey detached home in Dumbarton. He was ready for a more reliable heating system. One that would last, require less upkeep, and give him peace of mind.

His existing boiler and heating system were showing their age, so the install needed careful planning to ensure our modern Aira Heat Pump could integrate smoothly with the home’s current pipework and electrical setup.

Adding to the challenge, the old boiler had been installed in an awkward position. Removing it without damage or disruption would need extra care.

Our solution

One of our Clean Energy Experts visited Scott for a free home energy assessment, walking him through how the Aira system works and outlining exactly what his switch would involve. All before providing a price-locked quote.

Once he accepted, we guided Scott through the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan process, helping him understand what he was eligible for and how to apply. Through the scheme, Scott secured £7,500 off the cost of his system.

Our designers created a bespoke setup tailored to his home. It included a 6kW Aira Heat Pump, an Aira Indoor Unit Compact, a 250L hot water cylinder, and a 40L buffer tank, all thoughtfully positioned to fit seamlessly into his space. Scott’s home also needed 5 new radiator upgrades to ensure optimal comfort and efficiency throughout every room.

When it came time to install, our Clean Energy Technicians took their time removing the (very) old boiler without causing damage or making a mess. The full installation took just three days, leaving Scott delighted with the result.

Scott’s verdict

“Aira has been fantastic from start to finish. They kept me informed at every stage of the switch and made the whole process feel easy.

I’m really pleased with the heat pump design. Especially the outdoor unit, which is a lovely-looking piece of tech.

It’s been a great experience overall. I couldn’t be happier and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Aira.”

“Now that we have our Aira Heat Pump, we never run out of hot water, and noise hasn’t been an issue at all. I’m really happy with my Aira experience and I’d gladly recommend them to anyone upgrading their boiler.”

Roger & Sue, Kilmarnock

“Our first winter with an Aira Heat Pump was a joy. We’ve now got a consistent indoor temperature, and we saved around 50% on our energy bills in January and February compared to last year.”

John & Helen, Ayrshire

“We came across an article in The Guardian about Aira. And we thought, if a heat pump can keep a Swedish home warm, it can definitely do the same for our home in Scotland. And it does.”
