If you, or someone in your home, receives benefits such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, or Child Tax Credit, you could qualify. The qualifying benefits include: Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) Income Support Pension Credit (Guarantee or Savings Credit) Working Tax Credit Child Tax Credit Universal Credit Housing Benefit Child Benefit (income thresholds apply – find these at the bottom of this page)

2. Live in a low-income household

ECO4 is designed to support households that need it most. If your combined income is below £31,000, you may be eligible.

3. Own your home or be a landlord

Whether you’re a homeowner or a landlord, you can apply. If you rent, your landlord will need to start the process.

4. Have a low EPC rating

Your home must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G to qualify. Don’t know your EPC? You can check it on the government’s website .

5. Live in England, Scotland or Wales

ECO4 is available across Great Britain. Your home should fall within council tax bands A–D in England or A–E in Scotland and Wales.

What is the ECO4 scheme?

The ECO4 scheme is a government-funded programme designed to help low-income or energy-inefficient households cut their energy bills and reduce carbon emissions. It provides funding for essential home upgrades, like insulation, solar panels and heat pumps. In some cases, the upgrades come at no cost to eligible homeowners and tenants. The goal is to make homes warmer, more energy efficient and less reliant on fossil fuels.

What upgrades could I get through ECO4?

It will depend on what your home needs. All Seasons Energy will carry out a free home energy assessment to see what you need to do to increase energy efficiency and improve your home’s overall EPC. Some of the upgrades available are: Air source heat pumps (like the Aira Heat Pump) External and internal wall insulation for solid walls Cavity wall insulation Flat roof insulation Loft insulation Room in roof insulation Solar panels You could also be eligible for: Gas boiler upgrades (for non-condensing and back boilers) Electric storage heating (ESH) upgrades First-time central heating (FTCH) Non-condensing boiler upgrades

Will I need to pay anything if I qualify for the ECO4 scheme?

If you’re eligible, all upgrades are usually covered. There are some instances where you may have to pay a small contribution – for example, if specialist materials are needed or if we uncover extra work beyond the original scope. But we’ll always talk it through with you first. No hidden costs. No surprises.

What is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?

An EPC, or Energy Performance Certificate, shows how energy efficient your home is. It gives your property a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient), and includes recommendations for improving your score. To qualify for the ECO4 scheme, your home needs an EPC rating of D, E, F or G. Not sure what your current rating is? You can check your EPC for free on the government’s website here.

What if someone in my household receives benefits, but I don’t?

That still counts. Eligibility applies to the household, not just the applicant. If you’re unsure, contact one of our Clean Energy Consultants, and we’ll assess the full picture.

How long will installation take?

Once your eligibility is confirmed and you have given us the green light, we aim to install within 30 days.

Can I combine ECO4 with other government schemes?

No. You can’t mix ECO4 with funding from other government grants such as: Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) Home Upgrade Grant Warm Home Discount Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund

What is the local authority flex (LA Flex) and am I eligible?

Local authority flex (LA Flex) allows your local council to expand ECO4 eligibility to households who may not receive benefits. For example, people on lower incomes or those with health issues made worse by the cold. Every council sets its own rules. The best way to check is to contact yours directly, or speak to us and we’ll help guide you.

What are the Child Benefit income thresholds for ECO4?

The Child Benefit income threshold depends on whether you’re a single claimant and the number of children you have. Number of children = 1 Single claimant = £19,900 Member of a couple = £27,500 Number of children = 2 Single claimant = £24,800 Member of a couple = £32,300 Number of children = 3 Single claimant = £29,600 Member of a couple = £37,200 Number of children = 4+ Single claimant = £34,500 Member of a couple = £42,000

Can I still apply for the ECO4 scheme if I don’t get benefits?

Yes. You may still qualify through income-based criteria or LA Flex. If your income is under £31,000 or you meet local council criteria, you could be eligible. Contact our team to learn more.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (England & Wales)

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (or ‘BUS’ for short) gives eligible homes a £7,500 grant to help replace their old gas or oil boiler with a clean energy heat pump.

The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan provides up to £15,000 in funding to install a heat pump, of which £7,500 is a grant and £7,500 is an interest-free loan.
